Bitcoin (BTC)
Описание сети
Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency, often referred to as cryptocurrency, that operates on a peer-to-peer network. It was introduced in 2009 by an anonymous entity or group known as Satoshi Nakamoto.
The core innovation of Bitcoin lies in its underlying technology: the blockchain. A blockchain is a distributed, immutable ledger that records all transactions across a network of computers. Each new transaction is added to a 'block,' which is then cryptographically linked to the previous block, forming a chain.
This distributed nature means that no single entity controls the Bitcoin network. Instead, it is maintained by a global network of participants who validate transactions and add new blocks to the chain through a process called mining.
Mining involves solving complex computational puzzles. The first miner to solve the puzzle for a new block is rewarded with newly created Bitcoins and transaction fees. This process not only secures the network but also serves as the mechanism for introducing new Bitcoins into circulation.
Bitcoin's supply is intentionally limited, capped at 21 million coins. This scarcity is a key feature designed to mimic precious metals like gold, potentially influencing its value over time.
Transactions on the Bitcoin network are pseudonymous. While transactions are publicly recorded on the blockchain, they are associated with Bitcoin addresses (long strings of alphanumeric characters) rather than personal identities. However, with sufficient effort, these addresses can sometimes be linked to real-world identities.
The Bitcoin network is designed to be resistant to censorship and double-spending. Double-spending, the risk that a digital currency can be spent more than once, is prevented by the consensus mechanism that validates transactions.
Bitcoin can be used for various purposes, including as a store of value, a medium of exchange, or as a foundational element for other decentralized applications and services built on its blockchain.
The network's status is active, indicating its continuous operation and ongoing transaction processing.
While the Bitcoin blockchain itself does not natively support the creation of tokens in the same way as some other blockchain platforms, its primary focus remains on facilitating peer-to-peer electronic cash transactions.
